Born on the 27th of May, 1975 in Clavering, England, James Trevor Oliver started his journey to become a world wide chef, being known for hosting The Naked Chef and his many other TV shows, writing various cookbooks and making schools a healthier, cleaner place.
His parents, Trevor and Sally Oliver, ran a pub/restaurant: The Cricketers. This was where he practised cooking in the kitchen. He has two siblings and was educated at Newport Free Grammar School.
He left school at the age of sixteen with two GCSE (General Certificate of Secondery Education) qualifications in Art and Geology and went to Westminister Catering College. There, he gained valuable experience working at several reputable restaurants. His break into television came when he appeared in a documentary while working at the River Café in London. From there, he gained fame after hosting a hit cooking show, The Naked Chef.
In 1999, his BBC show The Naked Chef was published, and his cookbook became a No. 1 bestseller in the United Kingdom. After three series of Naked Chef (The Naked Chef, Return of the Naked Chef & Happy Days with The Naked Chef), Oliver moved to Channel 4 in the United Kingdom, where his first series was a documentary: Jamie's Kitchen.
July 2000 was when Oliver married Juliette Norton. They had five children: Poppy Honey Rosie (March 2002), Daisy Boo Pamela (April 2003), Petal Blossom Rainbow (April 2009), Buddy Bear Maurice (September 2010), and River Rocket (August 2016).
In 2005, Oliver initiated a campaign originally called Feed Me Better to move British schoolchildren towards eating healthy foods and cutting out junk food. His emphasis on cooking fresh, nutritious food continued as he also created Jamie's Ministry of Food, a television series where Oliver travelled to inspire everyday people in Rotherham, Yorkshire, to cook healthy meals.
Jamie Oliver hosted Jamie's 15 Minute Meals on Channel 4, which aired for 40 episodes in 2012. In October 2013, he began a partnership with the Australian supermarket chain: Woolworths Supermarkets on a series of better nutrition initiatives and advertising campaigns like the odd bunch, and free fruit to children.
So far, he has written and published 22 cookbooks and has changed the lives of the people living in the world. Jamie Oliver has still got more books and TV shows to publish. Let's bring it on!
Next week will be a post on one of his books - Jamie Oliver Everyday Super Food. There will be recipes and photos. Keep reading!
